There is something creepy in it. When we start making music our alter egos kind of get let out of the cage and start fighting.Our creativity can only go so far on our own, we throw ideas back and forth like punches, like a pass the parcel of each others shit, until its done."And what's done, what they finally let you hear, is an enjoyable, softened blow, like Hyde sneaking up on Jekyll in a jumping castle. Basicly, we are writing songs non-stop we have one nearly finished now but thats taken the back seat for the live show we're working on.Ajax loves our music, he's played it on fbi sunsets a few times and he's doing a remix of distraction.We get along with ajax and gus really well they are top guys and really down to earth.We are expecting a remix from Harley again, this time he's remixing distraction. Of course i am! ive never been to australia and i hope ill make it back in one piece, without being poisoned by a snake, spider, scorpion or whatever is crawling around down there..;) Im just trying get around, get known more and have some great parties with you guys! What would be your favourite 5 tracks for the mean time we would be hearing on the tour? 1 – „..is you..“ – d.i.m. (bnr) 2 – „&down“ – boysnoize (bnr) 3 – „lower state of consciousness“ – zzt (turbo) 4 – „ready to watching“ (turbo) 5 – „airbus baby“ – d.i.m. (turbo) Are we likely to be hearing much of your original stuff when your in Sydney? Of course! Im going to play all of my tracks and remixes, including new and unreleased stuff What is the scene like Europe/Germany and did any locals acts inspired you early on? My techno history starts somewhere 90/91....at that time ppl like sven väth, westbam were already big...so they sure had some influence...but i dont get much of my inspiration from listening to electro/techno. Most of the time i really listen to completely different stuff, like im a big motown fan for example.. I dont think theres a „european scene“ really... How does Electro from Germany contrast with what's happening in France? Its getting closer ...a bit at least...music coming from france always seems to be a bit more funky, punchy, bit more musically, a bit more „playful“...while german stuff maybe a bit darker, stricter, heavier....just more „german“ ..;) To me the french scene consists of ed banger and stuff linked to them only anyway, i dont really know what else is going on there...in germany we still dont have enough of that sound. Theres still so much of minimal stuff around....too much if you ask me.... How did you get teamed up with Turbo Recordings? Ive been doing music with alex (boysnoize) for about 9 years now, so he had a cd from me, with various stuff on it, including „noize“. This cd he passed on to tiga one day, he picked „noize“ and made me do another track. That was „sysiphos“....that was my first 12“ on turbo... What's it been like making the D.I.M album? Hmm..well...im my dreams its always big fun...unfortunalety i didnt start yet! right now there are just too many things going on to really concentrate on doing an album. But im planning to release an album early next year. What are you hoping to achieve musically by the end of the year? Hopefully my album will be done, i hope to do some more ace remixes and im also just started working with different guys from u.k., so i hope something good will come out of that as well... What kind of artists would you like to work with in the future? As long as they are not signed to a german major label – im fine! Serious, im really open for almost anything, as long as ist quality work...that includes not only electro/techno acts but as well pop stuff... Which music are you particularly excited about this year? Im really into the noizier and more versatile stuff...really not into the minimal-ish stuff that still seems to be huge....i think theres a new breed, a „new“ kind of sound(if there is such thing nowadays), different style of producers and dj´s coming up... Like for example most of the ed banger stuff, boysnoize of course, lespetitspilous, bloody beetroots, just to name a very few... For quite a while i really had a hard time going to clubs, where you could choose between „handbag house“ djs like tom novy or straight minimal, repetative “im playing the same song all night long“ stuff...that was pretty annoying...so its a relief now to hear for example ppl like boysnoize doing their... There you have it, from the mystery man himself D.I.M expresses how he feels about filling the shoes of D.I.M - and the success behind it.
