New Hot Chip: Yum!
posted by Mindgutter | Wednesday, January 30, 2008 | 6:21 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com ![]() Hot Chip are set to release a brand spanking album on Feb 4th! Hot Chip have been hugely popular in Australia and around the world with their albums Coming on Strong and The Warning. Songs like Over and Over was regularly heard at every dance event being favoured by Bang Gang and the Trashbags Posse djs last year. Now Hot Chip have come out with an eargerly awaited new album called "Made in the Dark" to take 2008 by storm. Both vocalists make a stronger appearance in this album compared to the previous ones which contained a more stripped back, more minimalistic sound. Ready for the Floor is the first single to be released from the album (Shake a Fist was only released as a 12"). When I heard this song on Triple J, I couldn't stop bouncing along to the infectious chorus. I've also included two remixes (Soulwax and Jesse Rose) that I snapped up in search of finding a more dance floor friendly version. Initially I was unimpressed by both remixes but after listening to them for a while, they have definately grown on me. I played the Jesse Rose remix on my better speakers and realised that the track might actually work wonders. I wasn't so sure so I decided to play the Jesse Rose Remix at La La Land last week. I thought, if it works, great, if it doesn't, the crowd can have a rest. Fuck! The crowd went ballistic. It was the biggest shock of my life. With the awesome YU sound system pumping out the heavy bass and the weird siren sounds during the quieter moments, it created a huge build up that had everyone's hands in the air. Check out the myspace of: Soulwax and show them some love. Here are the tracks. If you like the single, be sure to visit your CD shop on Feb 4 to buy the album. Be sure to check out photo's from La La Land @ trashbags.net.au Much Love, 4 Comments:And here is the video for "Ready for the Floor"

The new Kidvid on the block!
posted by Mindgutter | Sunday, January 27, 2008 | 4:52 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com ![]() There is some seriously crazy distorted bangers coming out of the USA of late. First with our friends Culture Prophet from South Carolina, now with Kidvid and PJtheViking from Virginia. From what I understand of the U.S. dance scene, hip hop dominates leaving Kidvid and PJtheViking and others to djing at crazy house parties around town. But this doesn't phase these guys as thousands have flocked to their myspace from around the world and lapped up their heavy tunes. These guys are influenced by modern artists like Teenage Bad Girl, Daft Punk (naturally), Toxic Avenger, Culture Prophet and Vitalic but also some stuff from the 80's by Madonna, Prince and Yaz. Be sure to check out Kidvid here and PjtheViking here on myspace. Download this track ;) Kidvid & PjtheViking - Creative Joose (YSI) Much Love, P.S. La La Land was fucking crazy last night. Thanks to all those who came and went nuts on the dancefloor. Labels: kidvid, pjttheviking 0 Comments:
Weekend of Superheroes!!
posted by Mindgutter | Friday, January 25, 2008 | 10:57 AM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com ![]() It's so very tempting to post a song called superheroes. I could choose between Daft Punk (which everyone has) or Toxic Avenger (which has been featured many times on this blog). So I decided to blog something Australian. As you all know, La La Land falls on Australia Day. So in true Aussie spirit, I will post an Australian artist, remixed by an Australian. The song is called "Oh I like" by Like Woah from the Bang Gang 12" label. It has been remixed by Whitenoise from Sydney. Whitenoise has been very busy producing some absolute bangers. His remix of "Oh I Like" is definately the best remix (if not best track) on the Like Woah EP. Whitenoise is soon to release his remix of "Fun Punch" by the Bagraiders. He's definately a producer I will keep a close eye on. Be sure to pay Like Woah a visit on myspace here and Whitenoise here. Also, make sure that Australia Day is a weekend of Superheroes. Come to YU as a Villain (like Diego) or a Superhero. Points for creativity ;) Be sure to send in your guestlist. Check out the La La Land myspace for more details. Here's the track: Like Woah - Oh I Like (Whitenoise Remix) (click here to download from zshare) The set times for La La Land are as follows: 9-11 Romulus & Remus 11-12 Fabrik djs 12-2 Trashbags POSSE djs 2-3 Mindgutter 3-4 M.I.N.N.A 4-6 Marky Mark & King Lee Catch ya on the dancefloor ;) xx Mindgutter 1 Comments:This post has been removed by a blog administrator.

CROOKERS........WOW!!!
posted by Marky Mark | Wednesday, January 23, 2008 | 12:34 AM | mvo_82@hotmail.com Without a doubt, supreme Italian duo, Phra & Bot, were one of my favourite new producers of last year. "Salmon Dance" and Timbaland's "Way I Are", these boys can do no wrong. 2008 will be a big year for them i suspect, they have a new EP coming out on Southern Fried Records and are touring globally including Australia in March. That's one gig I'm definitely going to be front and centre for!! I've posted one of their new songs, "Knobbers", this is killer. All I need ...is you... You you you you you
posted by Kx. | | 10:41 AM | kevin.spec@gmail.com ![]() Yo homies, For the past few weeks, I have felt a little bit outdated with the music I have at home and at work, so I thought I'd go around and have a little wonder and i stumbled upon this awesome remix of the infamous D.I.M track, "...is you..." which by far has won me over with it's sexy vocals and hard bass beats when I first heard him play it in Australia. This remix of "...is you..." is by Les Petits Pilous signed to Boys Noize Records and i know we have previously done a post about them, i thought why not, these guys deserve the recognition of their wonderful work. This remix of the song has the cutting edge to it, it's more eclectic and harder and like what we mostly like to hear, distorted. You just have to listen for yourselves, guaranteed you will shit yourselves. These guys are the bomb and when you mix The German Mastermind with two french kids, we get something unbelievable & distorted. Be sure to catch them down in Australia, and even a side show by the german mastermind D.I.M aswell? ;) Oh another thing, come down to Kill The Radio @ Roxy on the 2nd of February for the weekly launch ft. AJAX & Trashbags Posse DJs and our other parties, plus enjoy the track kids. D.I.M - ...is you... Fabriclive 40 - Justice REJECTED
posted by Mindgutter | Tuesday, January 15, 2008 | 11:03 AM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com ![]() There's good news and bad news... I'll start with the bad news. The much anticipated Justice mix which was to be released as Fabriclive 40 has been rejected by the people of fabric. With Justice's popularity skyrocketing, this mix was widely talked about in forums, blogs, radio, clubs and print media. Justice announced the news to Norwegian newspaper 'Dagsavisen'. They stated: "We didn't want to do just another boring mix, so we put together a selection of tunes we absolutely love, mainly weird disco tracks and French novelty acts. But Fabric turned it down. They weren't ready for something like this. Maybe we'll put the mix out ourselves. People should really hear it, they'd be surprised." And now with the good news. Instead of having to pay $30 in HMV to get your hands on their mix, they released it as a special Ed Banger Christmas Promo (Check out the pic above). And you can download it from us using the link below. When you download this mix and have a listen. You will know that it is undeniably Justice through and through. You can hear from the tracks they have chosen where they get their influence from. It's totally disco and... well... French. BUT (and this is a huge ass but!!!) If you expect to hear the crazy distortion of Waters of Nazareth, the energy of Let there be Light or the pure banger Phantom 2... You will be brutely dissapointed. I can totally understand why fabric turned this thing down. It doesn't fit into the genre at all. Most people buying these albums expect to hear something they would hear in their club. Instead you get a kinda chilled out, disco jam. Plus, it's really short. Only 44 minutes (most fabric mixes last at least an hour). Despite all this, it really is a good listen. I enjoy it. It is full of positive emotion. As long as you accept it for what it is (i.e. understand its not your typical dance mix) you will love it. Here is the tracklist: 01 Sparks: Tryouts for the Human Race 02 Rondo Veneziano: La Serenissima 03 Goblin: Tenebrae 04 Daft Punk: Ouverture 05 Surkin: Next of Kin 06 Symbolone: Love Juice 07 Korgis: Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes 08 Midnight Juggernauts: Ending of an Era 09 The Paradise: In Love With You [ft. Romauld] 10 Justice: TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY (Acapella) 11 Chic: Everybody Dance 12 Frankie Valli: Who Loves You 13 Das Pop: Underground 14 Julien Clerc: Quand Je Joue 15 Daniel Balavoine: Vivre Ou Survivre 16 Richard Sanderson: Reality 17 Zoot Woman: Grey Day 18 Fucking Champs: Thor Is Like Immortal 19 The Rave: Mother 20 Fancy: You Never Know 21 Frank Stallone: Far From Over 22 Sheila: Misery 23 Todd Rundgren: International Feel Dowload it here ;) Much love, P.S. Let us know what you think of the mix by voting on the blog. Labels: fabric, fabriclive, justice, trashbags 4 Comments:This was originally going to be like 35 or something. They are actually doing 40.

theres no fucking WAY that justice's mix could have been anywhere NEAAAR as good as the noisia one turned out. i mean, fair play, totally different in style, and most people who like justice probably can't stand stuff like noisia, but thats cos they are PUSSIES.

Something Old, Something New... Something Blue??
posted by Mindgutter | Sunday, January 13, 2008 | 8:36 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com Hmmm... Trashbags last night was good. The Posse monstered YU as usual. The club was packed to the hilt. The streets filled with swarms of smokers (and security trying to keep things quiet). It was a good good night. But nights like this come at a price. That is... The Hangover. You know you had too much to drink when you wake up drunk and the hangover finally hits you in the afternoon. Since one cannot do much in this state other than sit in front of the computer in a hung over stupor, I decided to give you guys something old and something new. Something new... Our good friends Culture Prophet have been sending me lots of new remixes and their latest remix of Get Low by Flo-Rider really stands out. Check the posts in this blog in November for interviews, info and a fuck load of Culture Prophet tracks if you wanna learn more. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the awesomeness that is Culture Prophet's new remix. So now for something Old... I have a massive soft spot for SebastiAn. He's one of my favourite artists. I have an amazing remix of his to share. Its been around for a while but I never got the chance to blog it. So I thought, fuck it. Just blog it now. You will love it. So here are the tracks. Something new: Something Old: Totally lied about having something blue. Sorry kids. xx Mindgutter

OCELOT MTHRFCKRS! & My first blog for 2008
posted by Kx. | | 10:12 AM | kevin.spec@gmail.com ![]() Hey all, First blog for 2008 for me, and I've chosen two guys who have just recently signed to Franki Chan's label IHEARTCOMIX, who have signed the likes of one of our internationals to hit our shores Toxic Avenger. These guys go by the name of Ocelot (Mthrfckrs if be) and are two guys that are on the opposite ends of the world (UK & Texas) but still produce some fuckin' killer remixes and tracks. After having one of their remixes of "Dragonette - Competition", which i know is old to the blogging world, but after listening to it again this morning on my iPod, i came to a realisation that these guys have something going on for themselves here, with hard banging riffs & melodies throughout tracks they have created and remixed, they also brings in their rock influences with hard electric guitar sounds making the distortion of the track even harder. Their track "Lo Forenzo (The Stress)", just released on IHEARTCOMIX shows their musical talents together even from across the world they are still able to produce something banging. Also these guys are getting remix request left right and centre from artist like Robyn, Switch & Dragonette and yet they are still able to execute they style of music to everyone. So I was able to get a few tracks to post. Maybe old but still banging! Ocelot - Lo forenzo (The Stress) - http://www.zshare.net/audio/17426133996341/ Switch - Every Second Counts (Ocelot Remix) - http://www.zshare.net/audio/27728673d35ff2/ Dragonette - Competition (Ocelot Remix) - http://www.zshare.net/audio/369504146bd651/ Lets hope for an Australian Tour, cause i'd love to go seem them. Check their Myspace and their blog @ IHEARTCOMIX Much love & Come check out TRASHBAGS tomorrow night ya'll! 0 Comments:
Give Me Danger..
posted by Elle. | Thursday, January 10, 2008 | 11:37 PM | isamplified@gmail.com ![]() ![]() So i'm completely head over heels infatuated with Danger. Everything surrounding him is such an enigma... his graphical illustrations, his hauntingly intense music, the identity of this man... even the 24-hour-time-style he titles his tracks with. All I do know is that he allegedly comes from Lyon (ahh can French electro get any better?) and signed to Ekleroshock ....Oh and did I mention that his music is un-fucking-believable... well that too. There is something so unique to the sound he orchestrates... something so innovative, so raw, so mysterious, so suspenseful and incredibly emotional. 14h54 is easily one of the best tracks I've heard in a while. Alarming, heart racing.. the French really know how to deliver their shit. Danger 14h54 11h30 is hell catchy... and I think the DatA remix most definitely deserves your recognition. It doesnt stray far from the original but merely intensifies the track, making it significantly more dance-floor friendly. Danger- 11h30 Danger 11h30 (DatA Remix) 9h20 is another killer track which definitely keeps in tune with that dark-edge sexy electro we are addicted to. The remixes are astounding... some crazy chopped up vocals in the Neon Coyote mix & great heavy synths in the Culture Prophet one. Well done guys. Danger- 9h20 Danger - 9h20 (Neon Coyote Remix) Danger- 9h20 (Culture Prophet Remix) And just check out his other tracks on his Official Myspace aiightt? and be his friend because he is still incredibly under-appreciated in my eyes. So yeah... can't wait to meet this man of Mystery during his Australian tour. You can catch him @ Trashbags (9th Feb) and @ Kill the Radio (16th Feb) Get ready to party with this guy...he is going to bring the walls down 2 Comments:

They have awesome tunes that are getting some serious blog attention from all over.. It took no convincing at all for me to appreciate these guys and their talent. They have only been producing since December last year and believe me after listening to their tracks you would have thought that they'd have been in the game much longer. Some of their tracks remind me of artists such as MSTRKRFT, D.I.M and Yuksek. The riffs in their original tracks are very catchy and if you like your music hard, heavy and loud then make sure you check these guys out and send them some feedback. Calling in Sick myspace: They have been generous to give me a few links to their originals and a remix. Track 1. CALLING IN SICK - CALI GAMES http://www.zshare.net/audio/62219755cf85ac/ Track 3. Les Petits Pilous to hit Australia!!!
posted by Mindgutter | Sunday, January 6, 2008 | 5:44 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com It has been an absolute MONSTER week for music lovers. Kill the Radio NYE, Field day and various Sydney Festival events featuring the likes of Chromeo, Ajax and Spank Rock just to name a few. I have been lucky to catch Chromeo not once, but twice these past few days. Although both sets were pretty much the same, i had a crazy time. I gotta say, my love for Chromeo has never been stronger. What excites me is that the crazy start of 2008 is just a small indication of what will come over the next few months. 2008 will see some of the best artists playing at Trashbags, La La Land and Kill the Radio. Its with great pleasure to announce that Les Petits Pilous will be doing various dates for Trashbags and Kill the Radio in May. Les Petits Pilous is signed to the infamous BoysNoize Records alongside D.I.M, Shadow Dancer and Boys Noize (naturally). All these artists (including les pitits pilous) specialise in creating bangers that when played at clubs, create waves of excitement in the crowds. Sorry no narcotics here, only Designer Drugs of the musical variety.. Designer Drugs are two young guys from Philadelphia who are smashing it!! I found their myspace and after one listen to their songs I was compelled to share them with you all!! They have given me links to several tracks and remixes of theirs! Its nothing but hard driving synth electro. Their songs literally make you want to stand up and dance!! The remix that got me the most was Hail Social - Heaven. Nothing but amazing wat they have done to that track, so give it a listen and let them know what you think on their myspace. 2008 is set to be a huge year for these boys, so get in early for these anthems to come. Enjoy, M.I.N.N.A xx Designer Drugs myspace Hail Social - Heaven (Designer Drugs remix) http://frankichan.com/websongs/Heaven(DesignerDrugsRemix).mp3 (courtesy iheartcomix)Thieves like Us - Drugs in my Body (Designer Drugs remix) http://www.zshare.net/audio/5181102cf2b857/ meanwhile check out this link they gave me for some more dirty, heavy tracks. 2 Comments:
