Toxic Sounds
posted by Mindgutter | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 | 8:03 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com One of my favourite producers for a very long time has been The Toxic Avenger. His track Superheroes and Escape (B.B. Remix) have been played countless times at all our events with great gusto. It's been some time since Toxic headlined Trashbags in his Australian tour and ever since he's been very busy. He's been playing alongside Ed Banger crew, Les Petits Pilous, Zombie Nation, Yelle and MSTRKRFT to name a few. He's been so kind as to send us one of his latest tracks for my blogging activities and I'm very happy to share his latest banger "Defeat!" Enjoy... He's bringing out a new EP on the 26th of May which is sure to be an absolute banger. It's called Bad Girls Need Love Too and includes a remix by our Les Petits Pilous (who plays Trashbags and Kill the Radio THIS MONTH). Visit his myspace to check out samples of his new EP and remixes. And now some time for Distrakt! Distract is part of the Fabric Dj's who dish out bangers on a regular basis at Kill the Radio and La La Land. I've always been a massive supporter of my fellow djs and their production work. Our djs who have been producing some crazy include Afters from the Trashbags Posse Djs and Nixon. Here's a remix straight from our backyard. Charlie Fanclub - Splash (Distrakt Edit) (zshare) Be sure to visit Fabric Djs here and Distrakt here. Much Love, Mindgutter 0 Comments:

Currently the darlings of the blog world having received big coverage from all around the world. Their sound? Distinctly 80's. They form part of the Valerie collective which is a collection of artists from the West Coast of France with similar graphic and musical influences. To discover more about Valerie, visit their popular blog http://valeriecherie.blogspot.com/ and dabble in the awesome sounds of the 80's they offer. As you may well know, one of my first loves is Fckn Crew. And they have done a banging remix of one of my favourite Minitel Rose tracks. Please visit Minitel Rose myspace here and Fckn Crew here. We love The Trashbags Posse DJs
posted by Kx. | Wednesday, April 23, 2008 | 10:42 PM | kevin.spec@gmail.com ![]() Well these guys keep coming up with new and fresh stuff when they play. The Trashbags Posse DJs are becoming the next IT DJs in Sydney. Afters & Cheap Frillz have come a long way to get to where they are now, and not also having residency at our nights, Trashbags, Kill The Radio and La La Land these guys have been recognised by big international producers and DJs around the world as Cajuan quoted, "These guys would have to be the best DJs in Sydney". With being recognised around Sydney, at parties and around the globe, these guys have great chemistry and amazing technical skills on the decks to throw the roof off the top of any venue around. With a variety of tracks being dropped that would get anyone in the mood to party, Afters and Cheapfrillz have started from the bottom and now has made it to the top of the food chain and are destroying parties in two. Over the weekend at the launch of Kill The Radio at our new home, the duo ripped the floor apart and left people jumping around each time a new track would be dropped. It's a must listen for yourself set. For those who missed out, we have recorded the set for your hard, distorted ears (well whatever is left of it anyways) and for those who missed out, you guys can check them out at La La Land (Saints and Sinners Dress Up Theme) with StereoHeroes (France) and Redial. The Trashbags Posse DJs live - Kill The Radio 19-04-08 (zshare) P.S - there are some pauses in there, but if you were there you would know why ;) See you all there this weekend :) Labels: boys noize, Cajuan, Kill The Radio, REDIAL, Stereoheroes, trashbags, Trashbags Posse Djs 5 Comments:

posted by Mindgutter | | 5:28 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com ![]() Do you feel it?? A Monster is soon to be released!!! That's right. Ed Rec Vol. 3 is going to be released on the 26th of May. So what does that mean for us Ed Banger fans?? Answer: New tracks by your favourite Ed Banger artists!!! BUT if you expect a new track from Justice, expect to be dissapointed. We don't see a new release from Justice but we do get a very very cool remix of one of my favourite tracks "Stress". I'll be honest and say that Ed Rec Vol. 2 was a bit of a dissapointment for me (I only really liked a handfull of tracks), but this latest installment looks to be more promising. All our favourite Ed Banger crew make an appearance (Sebastian, Mr Oizo, Busy P, Justice Feadz and Uffie etc. etc.) And judging from the Ed Rec 3 teaser, it's looking like its gonna be packed with bangers (just take Sebastian's heavy new track "Dog" for example). I hope you guys enjoy this one. Let me know what you think of the teaser and tracks. Also, visit Ed Banger's myspace and show them some man-love (or womanly love if thats your style and/or gender). B-B-B-B-BOUNCE.................
posted by Marky Mark | Thursday, April 17, 2008 | 12:25 AM | mvo_82@hotmail.com ![]() Hey all, first up I've had alot of people asking me about the Daft Punk mash up that was in the mixtape I made last month. I can tell you the brains behind that cheeky bootleg was none other than local boys The Hump Day Project. Consisting of Steve Lind and One Man Army, these 2 lads are creating some really cool b-more style bootlegs with a touch of fun. Their bootleg of Everybody Nose by N.E.R.D is probably the most decent remix I have of heard of this song. With their chunky and wobbly basslines to their catchy hook, this a sure thing to get the crowd going. Check out their myspace for more mischievous bootlegs. More on the Bmore tip, Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir are 2 of the hottest Baltimore producers going around at the moment. Both have joined forces to create this bumper of a track. This next track, though not new I couldn't help but post. Edu K, one of the pioneers of baile funk has teamed up with Marina, who was in one of the most popular groups of 2007 Bonde Do Role, to make this next track I'm about to post. The track is Me Bota Pra Dancar, now I'm not posting the original mix, but a Crookers edit. And, another track which Edu K did a remix of an Emily Karpel song. This one I highly recommend. And lastly, you all remember the track "Pump Up The Volume" by Marrs??... Now this was one of my favourite tracks growing up in the late 80's/early 90's. And I have got a really cool edit done by another local boy Yuri. Enjoy!!!.... 1 Comments:ah huh....

I haven't felt this emotionally satisfied with an instrumental band for a while... I guess it could be characterised as emotionally masochistic... but if you feel like lying on the floor, staring at the ceiling and contemplating everything that is wrong with your life this is definitely the background music that should be tormenting you through the speakers. 11 Comments:Great tracks... but really? posted by Mindgutter | Monday, April 14, 2008 | 8:59 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com You know those tracks that when played, no matter when, no matter which event, it's just gonna go off? Well Afters from the Trashbags Posse Djs has been hard at work in the studio and been cranking out some epic tunes that has achieved that effect.Trashbags this weekend went off. And when Afters (together with Cheapfrills) dropped his remix of Soulja Boy - Crank Dat (fuck I hope it was them that played it, I was so smashed off my tits it might not have been them that played it), the dancefloor that was already thumping, became a messy orgy of dancing. I'm really happy that I'm finally blogging this track. I really like what heaps of artists have been doing with this track. To make this post extra special, I've also asked Culture Prophet to give us their remix of Crank Dat. I just can't get enough of Soulja Boy!!! Is it possible to use 'your own sample'?
By That "Afters Battery Boy" remix is such a rip....original remixes no matter how good or bad they are, are remixes. Sampling other songs from general Kitsune-like artists and slapping "Crank That" over the top doesn't count....and to be honest it sucks to have good tracks ruined like that (specially with and artist like Boys Noize).

posted by Mindgutter | Saturday, April 12, 2008 | 12:34 AM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com ![]() Christ! I have been sitting on this beaut waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. With a string of amazing remixes including Justice's "Genesis" and "The Party" and Simian Mobile Disco (to name a few), I thought these guys were off to a pretty strong start. These guys (well cookies really... if you want to be technical) have far exceeded my already big expectations and are flying high. Signed to the highly successful Ekleroshock records, home of DatA and Danger, Chewy Chocolate Cookies have been producing some massive tracks. What better way to showcase their tracks than make a big fucking mixtape with all their tracks. And not just any mixtape... hell no! We're talking about a mixtape for No Love Lost Records (NLLR). I'm really digging what NLLR are doing. They have some of the biggest names in the business (Bloody Beetroots, Toxic Avenger, Felix Cartel, Stereoheroes, Lillica Libertine and Hostage just to name a few) making the PHATEST mixtapes to download for FREE. They have played along side some high respectable DJs such as Les Petits Pilous (Who will be touring next month), FCKN Crew (who has been up on our blogs before), Culture Prophet, MSTRKRFT, Surkin, Zombie Nation, Teenage Bad Girl Thieves Like Us, Zoot Woman and Boys Noize! These guys are the young guns of the industry and are coming up to game up with some of the big guys in the industry. Their musical style could be classified as hard, distorted, and futuristic. There sound is different and it will get you dancing on the dance floor. They have just signed up to the Pepperoni Industry Record Label and have just released their EP through the record label. The 5 track EP is just the beginning of is what to come yet, they will be releasing bigger and better things and maybe a tour down under in the near future. I have been lucky enough to talk to them and they were kind enough to send me a few tracks, including their EP Medley and waiting for their new track being recorded as we speak. You know what's funny, they have heard a lot about the Trashbags Kids from Sydney Australia too and have said some nice things about it (thanks guys!) Check out them live at studio 88 in France and you can buy the EP from Beatport. 1. Arvil 200000 2. Boite Et Clous 3. Animaks - ysi (zshare) 4. The Search - ysi 5. Like a Heartbeat Drives You Mad
posted by Elle. | Thursday, April 3, 2008 | 11:08 PM | isamplified@gmail.com (I love Catherine Deneuve + esp. in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg)So one night I was in the midst of doing my usual internet happy hunting and Diego (I swear the man never sleeps) linked me up to a DaroC article on Valerie. Valerie is a sensational blog... apart from feeding my overpowering addiction for enigmatic french music it promotes artists who take on different styles to their productions (rather than fixating on your usual mainstream and overblogged but nonetheless great banger.) Serie B is both arresting and hauntingly catchy whilst Moogeux has a beautiful bittersweetness to it which i've grown most attached to (bring it along on a midnight stroll with you sometime) DaroC- Série B (Zshare) DaroC- Série B (Y.S.I) DaroC- Mooguex (feat. You Go Sexual City
posted by Elle. | | 1:50 PM | isamplified@gmail.com Alice @ Oxford Art Factory Sydney If you know me you know just how big of a Crystal Castles fan I am. I just adore them. I've been bouncing around to air war and melting to their chaotically beautiful productions since before you could crawl.. I was practically counting down the seconds to their "new" album that has maybe 3 tracks that aren't 50 years old (in blog years) I'm going to put two up. Naturally, they are both very crystalcastleish and magnificent although I am extremely disappointed with their track Vanished. Everybody should know it is a remix! (and doesn't stray far from the orignal at all). It's basically just Van She's 'Sex City' with some added glitches. Its a great listen and I may like it even more than an original but come on... you gotta give Van She some credit you guys. Crystal Castles- Courtship Dating (Zshare) Crystal Castles- Courtship Dating (Y.S.I) "Crystal Castles"- Vanished (ie Sex City) (Zshare) "Crystal Castles"- Vanished (ie Sex City) (Y.S.I) ps. If you want more Crystal Castles I wrote up their Sydney show!! (click clickk to read my review) Labels: crystal castles, van she 10 Comments:
Van She is creditted in the CD. It's not a remix. It's a mash-up of an unreleased Crystal Castles song with Alice's vocals muted (called "Not In Love"), and the Van She vocals thrown on top. I've heard both versions and they are both great.

Thank you for the feedback!

i had no idea
By Crystal Castles took the Van She melody and gave it a MUCH better backing track.

I completely agree with you anonymous #3 CC have done a great job!!
By completely agree with you elle estrange. it sounds exactly like the van she track. a mashup and a remix are the same thing. whoever think they are different is an idiot.
By
a mash up & a remix are not the same. a mash up is taking two pre existing tracks and combining them into one track often with very little manipulation of the original tracks. a remix on the other hand is taking ONE pre existing track and arranging it both structurally and sonically two create a new version.

We Love Trashbags!!
posted by Mindgutter | Wednesday, April 2, 2008 | 12:01 PM | la_z_guido@hotmail.com The Secret is out! Trashbags is to have its own tent @ We Love Sounds 2008!!! This stage will have some of the biggest names in electronic music from around the world performing throughout the day. Here are some of the acts you'll be able to catch at the Trashbags tent. An even blend of both International and Australian heavy hitters. Duke Dumont (UK) FutureCop (UK) Stereoheroes (FRA) Afters & Cheapfrillz (Trashbags POSSE djs) Miami Horror Redial We all know the legendary Duke Dumont as he toured with Trashbags for our first birthday. And what a night that was!! Stereoheroes from France was written about in this blog so just click here for tracks and more info on these French music crazies. Now I don't think I've had the pleasure in introducing Futurecop from the UK. The sound Futurecop creates is like he writes music for movies in the 80's that never existed. Listening to Futurecop's tracks is like entering a time-warp. Things sound undeniably 80's, but still fresh and new. I could talk all day about him but only his music can do him justice. So below are some of my favourite futurecop tracks. To check out the rest of the lineup, click here. It's pretty massive. I reckon We Love Sounds is gonna be killer! Much Love, 0 Comments: |
