I was a little late upon acquiring Oi Oi Oi but I have to say if I had any doubts about the hype surrounding Boys Noize they instantly vanished. Hands down, Oh! is the best track. I mean, & Down and Lets Buy Happiness are killer club tunes but Oh! manages to hit an emotional chord. I inevitably had pretty high expectations for this remix but Danger just keeps blowing me away and setting the bar higher. No, I'm not talking about cheese or wine (fuck that!! Australia makes better wine), I'm talking about real quality music.I first noticed Revolte with their remix of Daft Punk which blew me away. It wasn't your typical "Harder Better or Technologic acapella over a crappy ableton created bassline or ridulus mashup" kind of remix. The remix they did was of Voyager from Discovery and from it they created a whole new funky vibe that had me absolutely addicted to the magic of Revolte. I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes. Booze, really has been quite successful at making me a little behind with the times. I had no idea (for some time) that Danger - Revolte at 22h10 was actually a remix of Revolte. But you have to admit, it is an innocent mistake to make as Danger's tracks have strange names and one can have no idea what they mean till you actually ask him yourself (which I have had the pleasure in doing). This little rant about Danger brings me to the first track I've been wanting to blog for a long time. It's called Weak Generation and features on Danger's coolest track: Danger - Revolte at 22h10. The cool thing about this track is that it has a completely different vibe to Danger's version. Funky would be a word to describe it. This track which features a collaboration with Culture Prophet from the USA has brought about amazing results. In essense it is unique blend of Prophet vocals and signature banging beats of Fckn Crew. Culture Prophet is going to do a tour with Fckn Crew in France sometime in June. The "epic buildup" has been a trend for years and years - it's just that the hipster crowd keeps taking on more of the musical tendencies of house and electro and calling it their own. I don't want to sound brutal about it, but as a journalist for URB for nearly four years and a DJ for eight...and a native of Chicago, it's been pretty easy to watch the appropriation of house elements happen pretty quickly over the past couple of years.

I slowly became attached to some of their work and developed more respect for them as they began churning out the remixes (especially by some my favourite artists such as Air)
I think my obsession with the teens really kicked in when I heard Love No. As I usually only develop deep infatuations with music that is emotionally draining or overstimulating I was surprised at my strong inclination towards Reality Check. Its quite a simple album but its got a great comic tone to it!

Kick at the moment!Does It Offend You, Yeah? are described as a "british electro band" despite the fact that their sound is distinctly heavier and I find most of their tracks don't really sound anything like electro but are definitely very remix-able. I don't want to describe them in comparison to other artists but I guess its a curse any band has to tolerate when attempting to come up with a "fresh" sound. I don't think they are by any means original. I'd be more inclined to say they have made an attempt to ripoff Death From Above 1979 and it hasn't been a complete failure. Plus they have simultaneously lovingly embraced the electro scene with their hypemachine successful remixes. I've caught MSTRKRFT before at Parklife and they were alright. I really prefer more intimate venues for my favourite dance artists. I believe I saw MSTRKRFT, DIGITALISM and JUSTICE in the space of a 3 hours and still managed to have a pretty mediocre day. Alternatively, witnessing Digitalism and Justice at their sideshows accompanied by pitch darkness, devoted fans and orchestrated flashing lights made for a completely insane experience. I cant emphasise enough the drastic contrast in reception... I can tell you now, the MSTRKRFT sideshow is going to be off the rails. Here are my two ALL TIME FAVOURITE mstrkrft remixes. By i saw MSTRKRFT in sydney at the end of 2005 i think in the forum. I am still listening to Anoraak on an hourly basis. The guys have been hitting up the Valerie parties and playing around Paris with M83. I think one of my most heartbreaking moments to date was when my most adored M83 didn't play their scheduled Sydney show. They came on stage to apologise for not being able to perform because they had allegedly left their instruments in Paris. I'm not as knowledgeable in the music department as I'd like to be but do M83 use really obscure instruments that couldn't have been acquired in Sydney? Is Sydney really that behind in the whole music equipment deparment? Was there really no way for them to perform live with 'regular' instruments? I really really really hate having doubts about my favourite artists. I try not to let any type of negative experiences affect my feelings towards the music. I would still buy a ticket to see them live if they ever come out to Sydney again. M83's new album is still excellent. The remix of Midnight Juggernauts' Shadows is gorgeous. I do think the heartfelt speech in graveyard girl would have gone down nicely french accent. I don't really know much about him (or them) and I'm not even sure that the tracks are new.. I guess he can just have that mysterious french producer edge until I hunt down some more info. Safe mode kinda sounds like what I imagine it would sound like if Digitalism remixed DatA's Morphosis. Maybe better.
