Me being one of them of course, I noticed an awesome mashup of SebastiAn and Lady Sovereign that I just couldn't stop listening to.I tried Hypem several times hoping it was a remix by someone else to no avail. To my dismay I realised when checking the giant tracklisting it was simply listed as individual tracks. This meant that it was probably a mash-up by Overthrill themselves. BUUUUT!!! Overthrill being the friendly producers they are, were more than happy to create a special stretched out edit of the track when they heard I loved it so much and wanted to play/blog it. This artist from Leeds has been producing some killer tracks and remixes that have spread throughout the blogsphere for some time. Romulus and Remus who have been part of the Trashbags family for a few months now have been busy at work not just spinning tunes but also creating them too. Having supported the likes of Shadow Dancer and Les Petits Pilous, it's a telling sign where they get some of their influences from. Every day/night/morning/afternoon was one wild party after another. It never stopped. Thus the lack of posts of late... But! I am back in full swing. And what better way to recover from jet lag than to write about some music that was pumping (in my headphones) whilst I was over in Greece. Overthrill has to be one of the best things to come out of the No Love Lost Records (NLLR) mixtape project. Their mix which featured over 80 tracks from all genres received over 219000 downloads and has been stuck on repeat for many people (including myself). They recently sent me a track which they submitted for Buffet Libre's 80's cover project called Rewind. Overthrill - Burn Rubber On Me (Gap Band Cover) The above track was also featured on Digikid84 exclusive TrashbagsKids mix which you can find here. Here is a killer remix of theirs. This remix kind of slipped by me… I’m not sure how old it is but god, I adore this song The Who- Baba O Riely (SebastiAn Remix) (Zshare) I’m really happy SebastiAn only made some minor alterations to it. Actually considering the minority of the alterations i’m not even 100% sure it’s a remix… it could well just be a clip from one of his live sets. I wonder if SebastiAn will make a big comeback I didn’t really like Dog that much... So i wanted to see what was new, or interest my ears.; Nightrider pops into my head, - he is a quirky producer, always putting something different together, Lucky enough his on my msn list, after chit chat, he sends me a track - Labelled "Danger VS outrunners - 7h46 on the run [nightrider remix]" this had to be good, probably one of my favourite artist danger, with the outrunners 80s feel,, i was quite excited to listen to it. after many many plays on my itunes, it has captivated me, dark, with cool vocals, and the 80s sci fi feel, it reminded me of driving down a dusty road, down the fast lane on a mission to "kill, kill kill. this is what i'm all about. I don't care how ginourmous or commercial they become. And I'm not referring to them in the context of a band (lets just pretend for a second that they are just producers). They seriously manage to take a song and make it exceptionally better with some minor alterations or change it drastically in the most wonderful way possible. Anyway I wholeheartedly agree with Hyperbole that this remix is a prime contestant for remix of the year. I can't really pinpoint the details of its infectiousness. Thinking about it rationally it seems to be a remix of such heart warming simplicity (seemingly following a similar style to their original productions). I can't even identify which parts of the 6 minute remix grab me the most I just feel the need to listen to it constantly. Midnight Juggernauts- Dystopia (Cut Copy Remix) (Zshare) Also how I love the lyrics to this song... a hope for a utopian society really hits home for me. It just confirms my love for dance music which has broken down all genres and turned into an art of reworking everything that makes a sound into the divine concept of dancing.
