Youth Of Today posted by ray_ray | Wednesday, March 31, 2010 | 11:43 PM | ray@trashbags.net.au So this is what the youth of today can do... I need not worry what tomorrow brings if this is what music is being produced today! This dubstep track is from UK 15 year old kid called Reika (Yes 15!). He quotes "been producing for around 2 years now, but only really been producing dubstep for the past 6 months". Producing at 13? i think i was too worried about chasing girls and when waiting for some bumfluff to grow on my chin let alone thinking bout making music. big ups to this kid, he has made some good stuff! Jesus, it's Surkin. I started thinking today.. with Easter around the corner, there has to be something worth doing Friday 2nd of April.. And then i was informed.. Surkin playing @ metro with Burns, .. how does something like this go un-noticed. Youngster, Punkster, Surkin from Institube's record label, very well known for his earlier EP 'white knight' is about to make Easter friday a memorable one.. No i won't be at church... no i won't be spending it with the family.. but the Trashbags posse crew will make their way to see this french youngster and show us how mixing can be done with ease. Releasing his 2nd ep titled 'Silver island' Surkin is labeled as the youngest high riser of this generation, and it goes by no surprise, having the likes of Justice, Sebastian & Kavinsky drop his tunes, this kid knows how to create some good beats. You may miss him.. or best you don't. i know i will be watching this wizkid at helms deep Metro Theater this Friday.. hope to see some of you fans out there too.. If you happen to make your way there.. you can find tickets here. With a disco feel and abit of pop electro added to it, he takes this Britney Spears song and turns it into a club beat which will get you dancing. By neo tokyo is absolutely amazing. i cannot believe he has not been signed by a label yet Don Diablo + Nightriders posted by jono! | | 7:36 PM | jono@trashbags.net.au The Don will see you now //Honestly, Mondays are bad enough just on their lonesome. But a Monday without some kind of tune to help you get through it... the stuff my nightmares are made of. That's why I tip my proverbial hat to producers like Don Diablo and Nightriders for making my early morning grind to uni, just that bit easier. Nightriders' Remix of Don Diablo's track 'Teen Scream Machine', is one to give your repeat button a flogging. To be honest, before I'd even listened to it, the little Spanish intro braced me for what was going to be a good listen. A free flowing, easy listening piece of up-beat disco. With that crystal clear, clean-cut sound...it does a number on the ears. The pleasant 80's vibe that emits from it doesn't go astray either. I first noticed Redlight beginning his ascent in the electro world probably about a year ago with his big remixes which consistently made repeat appearances at Hypem's #1 slot. His new self-titled EP uses a bunch of cool but subtle samples and shows influences from a wide variety of electronic genres from latin-disco to dirty electro. Anyways, you can just and should just download it for free and give it a listen and check out or check out his website with his remixes all streamable here I've only just briefly skipped through and listened to the tracks myself but here what I think are the standout tracks. Redlight - Fresh Box of Juice this track is great and utilizes samples from a great Data track //( **removed requested by artist) Redlight - Rated R this track uses a Classixx sample (I'll Get You feat. Jeppe) but adds some oopmh to it and 8-bit influences to create dancefloor mover. And finally here's the track that got me to first notice Redlight. You know the remixer did a good job when you hate the original track but love the remix, which is definitely the case here. Gerruzz! posted by jono! | Friday, March 26, 2010 | 12:40 PM | jono@trashbags.net.au Hadouken!// There's been a monster lurking in the dark of Italian nights, and it goes by the name of...Gerruzz. But now, Gerruzz has his sights set to destroy and explode onto the scene. Just by listening to a couple of his tracks, you can tell Gerruzz is a producer that takes his music seriously and throws a keg full of passion and quality into it. With a penchant for dishing out heavy bangers, you're guaranteed to get hit at point blank range with throbbing bass lines, distortion, neck jerking break's, and wild synths. All tied into a tight package with a token Gerruzz flavour. Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance ...a vendetta The track Vendetta stands as an insight to the Gerruzz aesthetic. Dark and looming, it picks up pace...and hits you with full force. Whoomp! Crazy blend of vocals and a driving beat. Kind of reminds me of an earlier 'Beetroots sounds, guarenteed to get your feet moving. If you played as sega mega-drive as much as I did, you'll appreciate Il Combatente; A homage to the amazing 16-bit track of Street Fighter II. Showing my nerd pride, I could be wrong...but 'maybe' the Vega stage specifically. Finally, Gerruzz highlights being able to twist his skill into a different range with Ho visto il suo vero volto, A DatA tribute. Expect big things from Gerruzz, his rise in the industry is inevitable. Gerruzz - Vendetta Gerruzz - Whoomp! A driving beat, that almost sounds choppy with his original 'Don't make me wait' seems to get repetitive, and although i am not a fan of repetition (unless its on my itunes) this track almost sets you up to get the crowd pumping, fist slashing, and headbangin' some sweat onto the dancefloor, for a massive bomb, of a boys noize track, or ZZT to follow through- which ever; it works. We don't know much of Spicy phonic, but this original does hit the spot, where as most producers miss the mark, and that's with the catchy bass line, or it could be the catchy melody line, this original has the bass line to catch you, and make you remember the track. By Night Kids posted by Big Little | | 6:51 AM | bplittle@gmail.com ![]() Night Kids are a fine lookin bunch of young people from New York who share TrashbagsKids' hatred for the arduous weekday grind and love of nightlife. They also share our love of creating and partying to heavy electro. They only recently came together as a group and hold a night every week at a club in NY called Happy Ending where they accompany their mixing with live synths and singing. Pretty cool, eh. They've also just begun producing as a group and have only released one track so far, although they plan to release an album sometime this summer, which I look forward to. Here's their first track. It's fantastic although it starts somewhat overly happy but it drops at around a minute in and gets rowdy. Also, Moktar and Ray just dropped two rad tracks in the previous posts which I thought both had similar elements. Since I feel like balls and am home sick today with not much to do, I thought I'd mix em together and see what happened. What I Bone It Like? (BL Mashup) I think it's not too shabby. What you think? "I left my iD at home" The last thing you would ever want to happen is leave your iD at home on a saturday night when your already in the city. Nothing else could be more worse. So now that i've realized i had nothing to live for anymore i went to check in my pockets for any bits of hope, and i had inside: Ipod Trashbag Stickers and cash.. So i put my ipod on and put on Pharrell and Gwen Stefani Chromeo mash up. And it pretty much ended up being my anthem song for my night, which was on repeat for quite abit. While i was venturing back to the station a russian back packer approached me for help asking me: "Helllzzzoo exxccuze me, do you knew buses for a Randwick now? I miss zee buss ahh eh, you know?" So i being a good human i showed her the way but on the way there while she was telling me her life story she wanted to stop at Hungry jacks. So we did and cause she thought i was so nice she bought me a meal. I was starting to think that this russian chick was okay! 30 mins later we walked to the bus stop and once we got there the bus came. She walked on the bus and thanked me a million times.. i never saw her agian And that was my saturday night out... Everyone has a song for their night.. whats yours? Can I Bone It Like That? Hard to know what to expect from indie/electro crossover band Bloc Party remixing indie/folk band Tunng, but the results are surprisingly good. A delicate vocal over a strong electro beat working very nicely. That's until about the 2.30 min mark when the the speed increases massively and it breaks into some sort of drum and bass/breakbeat vibe which I'm not so down with. Interesting idea (sort of) but it's crying out for an edit. Anyone fancy it? ps. Tunng have just realised a really nice record called 'And Then We Saw Land' if you're that way inclined.

ELENES posted by Big Little | | 12:10 PM | bplittle@gmail.com ![]() Elenes, return from a long 6 month break and they do not return empty handed. The French duo of Lucas Sanchez and Leo Durroty just dropped 2 tracks as a teaser for their soon-to-be released debut EP under the up and coming French label Anchor Factory . To me Elenes sound somewhat like a slightly toned-downed, less adrenaline packed version of Danger (if it's possible to imagine such a thing). When I first heard Elenes' new tracks my first thought was that this would be the music during the end credits of the hypothetical video game Danger created when promoting his newest EP. It has a calm sense of satisfying victory after a huge battle about it. I see a bright future for Elenes. After twelve months of stirring and biding his time, the titan has finally cast off his shackles...Kolt 13 is upon us. Following the widespread success of disco juggernaut Barretso, Tuff em Up! Records unveils their next artist set to shake the foundations of the industry...Kolt 13. In saying all this talk of 'unveiling'... Kolt is far from unknown, having produced monster remixes over the last year for the likes of; Pony Pony Run Run, Chromeo, Barretso, Visitor and Tigersapien. His remixes have built up what could be described as a thirst from his fans... and rest assured he plans to quench it. With an EP in the works, Trashbagskids are pleased as punch to feature a teaser of things to come; Kolt13 - At the Speed of Light (Feat WEB). We don't always see things the same way I get that But I want you to remember one thing I created you You belong to me You only exist Because 'I' allow it to happen I can't stress how full on this track is, and how hard it just knocked me flat on my ass the first time I heard it. I say full with the utmost sincerity, because that's what Love At the Speed of Light is; vocals and melodies entwined into a tight, full track, beginning to end. With vocals from WEB akin to Vyle from the Danger classic '00h00', a bassline that would make Kavinsky blush and stone cold signature Kolt breaks & synth's. This track stands as a warning to brace for things to come; Kolt13 // Tuff em Up! // 2010 Kolt13 - Love at the Speed of Light (feat. WEB) Kolt13 Facebook Kolt13 Myspace HEART IT @ HYPEM Tuffem Up! I first heard this remix at 3 am in the morning from Diego. And normally whenever i get something from Diego and its pretty late it just means its worth looking at. Crazy in the sense that after 4 months of being a lazy and self-indulged slob, I'm back at uni. What better way to start the uni year than with the Mohammad Ali of flus. Even though I've been bombed out of my mind on med's for the better part of the week, it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the huge flow music. Amidst the sea of new bangin' masterpieces, an oldie caught my eye. Binary Rec's duo Nightwaves and their cover of the Phil Collin's classic; In the Air Tonight. 2009 was a good year for the LA lads. They seemed to have a knack keeping up solid time behind the decks and machine gunning out tracks with their signature disco sound. In the Air Tonight does ol' Phil justice. Looking forward to seeing what Nightwaves comes out with in the not too distant future. By great track but quite frankly i feel that most of his tracks excluding the boys noize remix sound way too similar. Ive been waiting for him to mature as a producer and i thought the boys noize remix was a step in the right direction he seems to be a one trickpony thus far
